Mary Queen of Scots is Alive!

This is the coolest present I have ever gotten, my friend Forrest brought her to life and she is amazing! He would have given her a voice but he did not have the right voice, could you imagine Mary with a deep man's voice or a manly Scottish voice? LOL!

Thank you Forrest I love it!

  7. That's wonderful! But she'd have to have a French accent. She was raised in France from the time she was 6 years old and returned to Scotland as the widowed Dowager Queen of France when she was still in her teens.

  8. I completely know what you all are saying. I do want to add a real voice to her but I defiantly do not have the voice of a French accent. I have more of west coast meets southern accent and that just will not work. Any one out there have any ideas on getting a French accented sound bit for Mary? He can make her say anything I just have to have a digital sound bit put together.

  10. If you could figure out how to do it, I could record it for you! I'm an actress as well as an author and do all sorts of accents! I'd be happy to voice Mary Q of S.

I've written about her life twice now, in ROYAL AFFAIRS and in NOTORIOUS ROYAL MARRIAGES. Boy, did she have lousy taste in men!

  11. Leslie, I know all about NOTORIOUS ROYAL MARRIAGES, I want to read it so bad. It looks like a great read. She definatly had lousy taste in men.

I would love it if you recored something for me, anything. I would love to do two one for fun like something she would say or gripe about. Also a greeting to my page. Something like: Welcome to historically obsessed a place for historical fiction book reviews and much more.

You are so sweet to offer your skills. Thank you for jumping in. Shoot me an email Elizabethjohnson@yahoo.com

  14. Her voice was also described as pretty and "douce" -- sweet -- by her contemporaries. So she had a very feminine voice. We tend to think of her as a stalwart commander because she was a big woman. During all those years in the tower she was deprived of exercise and gained a lot of weight; but in her heyday, though she was nearly six feet tall she was a very girly girl, in some ways the antithesis of her cousin Elizabeth I, who ruled with an iron fist (and may have sounded like it, tonally, at least)

  15. Yeah her taste in men wasn't great but she did have some great men supporting her - my personal favourite (and a bit of a hero I could do with investigating more) is Sir William Kirkcaldy of Grange...VERY interesting gentleman!
Looking forward to hearing your voice!

  16. I can visualize her voice but I did not think about her height. She must have had a presence about her being that tall with the beautiful hair. Leslie I saw your picture on your publishers site and my goodness you could be an amazing Mary.

Actual Education, Forrest, HA I got you to comment you could not resist could you! I have not heard of Sir William but that is not saying much because I have read a few books on Mary. All of them on her imprisonment years, was he in the picture before then or during?

  17. Couldn't resist and I think I'm getting a bit hooked! He actually went against her but then held on to Edinburgh Castle for her. He was the one who held out during the 'Lang Siege'. It lasted for almost two years (I think - I should know but my heads a jumble right not). Eventually the town fell but the castle held out. Stupidly all the guns which could destroy the castle...were in inside it! One theory behind Edinburgh Castle's nickname of the 'Maiden Castle' is because no man was able to pierce her defences...ahem! More than one Regent of Scotland tried to dislodge him but the only one who could have used diplomacy was shot (Mary's half brother).
Kirkcaldy planned a cavalry raid to kidnap the next Regent (Darnley's father) but his lieutenants didn't allow him as he was too precious to their cause and it went badly wrong but he was a really daring man.
Not that it did him much good in the end...
