"Born 19/20 September 1486 – 2 April 1502, was the first son of King Henry VII of England and Elizabeth of York, and therefore, heir to the throne of England and Wales. As he predeceased his father, Arthur never became king. At Henry VII's death, the throne passed to Arthur's younger brother, who became King Henry VIII."
For more information on Arthur check out my post on his passing.
Always been interesting to think "what if he hadn't died?" What if it had been King Arthur and Queen Katherine??
ReplyDeleteI've always been interested in Kings who only inherited the throne because an elder brother died like Richard I, and Charles I. Someone should write an alternative history with Arthur living. Would he have succumbed to Anne Boleyn too? What would have become of Henry as a second son? Would Arthur been anymore successful at having sons?
ReplyDeletethank you for the info!
ReplyDeleteI think about that all the time. What if Arthur had not died what kind of king would he have been? He was groomed from birth unlike Henry who was suppose to go into the church. Could you imagine Henry VIII being in Wolsey's spot? Crazy to think about.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Arthur! It is a pity because it seems to me that he would've been a great King & Catherine would've been loved the way she deserved!
ReplyDeleteI know Amy he could have been an Arthur of Camelot.
ReplyDeleteBut on the other hand what would the church have been like today if Henry had never moved heaven and earth to be with her?
