Sundays Art: My Bess de Montacute, Watercolor

After reading "Hugh and Bess" I had to make my own version of Bess de Montacute. I just could not resist. Bess is very large 11 x 15. I painted her using water color pencils and water color crayons. Then as usual I touched her up with color pencil. Since it is so big I could not scan it all in on my computer but I did a close up of her face. Hope you all enjoy.

  6. Bess is 11x15. I finished her in one night. If I have a thought in my mind I can whip it out real quick. The problem is getting the inspiration from something. Usually it is finishing a novel that triggers it.

The eyes are my favorite part of her too, it is layers of paint first blue then brown then blue, and then touch up with pencils to give it more definition. I kept the white in her eyes the original paper which gave it a flowy look.

Someday I will get prints made of her.

  7. Love it. Very nice, and so neat that you get to be inspired by words to create your artwork.
I love the abundance of colors so well blended, beautifully done!
