The Innocent by Posie Graeme-Evans
"The year is 1450, a dangerous time in medieval Britain. Civil unrest is at its peak and the legitimacy of the royal family is suspect. Meanwhile, deep in the forests of western England, a baby is born. Powerful forces plot to kill both mother and child, but somehow the newborn girl survives. Her name is Anne.
Fifteen years later, England emerges into a fragile but hopeful new age, with the charismatic young King Edward IV on the throne. Anne, now a young peasant girl, joins the household of a wealthy London merchant. Her unusual beauty provokes jealousy, lust, and intrigue, but Anne has a special quality that saves her: a vast knowledge of healing herbs. News of her extraordinary gift spreads, and she is called upon to save the ailing queen. Soon after, Anne is moved into the palace, where she finds her destiny with the man who will become the greatest love of her life -- the king himself".~Lizzie~
I am always looking for a great read! I am currently reading, kind of a dark historical fiction (not recommended for young adults) about Thomas Edison, "Inventing Madness" by J.G. Schwartz http://www.inventingmadness.com/. It is definitely good, but wow, do I think of Thomas Edison differently... Current books depict Edison as a hero; Inventing Madness describes the darker side of this genius, including his cruelty towards his family and competitors. Fabulous book and will be sad to see it end. Glad I have another book to turn to once it is finished...Will definitely check "The Innocent." Thanks for recommending!
ReplyDeleteBecky that is a really interesting book your into....I do not know much about him, I hope you enjoyed the read. I am excited to check Innocent but I should have mentioned this in the post it is part of a trilogy. I think this one is the first one but I could be wrong. I found it on paperbackswap.com and had never heard of it before so it will be interesting.
DeleteA trilogy makes it even better! Thanks :)
