Upcoming Release: The Confessions of Catherine De Medici by C.W. Gortner Cover Art

It has arrived the new cover art of C.W. Gortner's new novel "The Confessions of Catherine De Medici". I am so excited about the release of this novel I can barely hold on anymore! I LOVE the cover, I think it turned out spectacular! A little dark because Catherine was a dark woman. I have pretty much accepted the fact that in historical fiction the model's heads are cut off because why leave the head? If you leave the head then the face should have some resemblance to the character in the novel. Which today there probably is not too many women out there who look like historical fiction heroins, or what we idealize them to look like. I am now at the point where I expect it to be cut off. My hope is that this cover will be able to entice some new historical fiction readers into exploring new frontiers in novel land.

Thank you C.W. for sharing this juicy tid bit, we are waiting patiently.

  1. I also think the cover art is gorgeous. Here is my theory about the heads cut off - it allows the reader to create their own idea of what the person would look like. I do hate it sometimes when the cover image destroys what I think of the character. But that is just my theory.

  3. Your theory is right on target I do like to leave somethings to imagination.

Lucy I know I have not done one for awhile but on the 1st I have one going up I promise. I know the move has got me all flustered.

  4. Ha! I feel so silly--I never noticed we never get a full few of their faces on cover art. I think I've always been too busy drooling over the amazing dresses our ladies are wearing.

  5. The fashion of HF is such a key part of why I am obsessed with it. I love the clothes.

  6. I'm really delighted with all the positive reactions to CONFESSIONS's cover. I love it, too; I think it has charisma, and that is what an author needs these days for his or her book to jump off the shelf.

Thanks for being such a fantastically supportive community!

  7. It has been a pleasure. I know it will jump off the shelf into the arms of a unsuspecting victim of historical fiction.
